SW Ammeter (cross post)

I posted a want add for a SW 10 Amp Ammeter over in the classified section but I wanted to make sure I got full coverage ;-)

I am refurbing my 1969ish Simplicity B2210 and the ammeter doesn't seem to work. I removed it and tested it with a 55w headlight and the needle didn't even twitch.

I did some looking on the innerwebs and there isn't much info on how to repair ammeters and the case seems to be crimped shut.

Anybody ever take one apart? Any "user serviceable parts" in there?

Here is a picture of the ammeter I have.

Well I decided to take it apart and got a surprise.

I had noticed the needle wouldn't move at all when the gauge was moved around.

I used a small flat screwdriver to uncrimp the trim ring.

After getting the trim ring and glass off, I noticed the needle was moving. I hooked it back up in my test rig and its working now. I guess it was just seized up.

I would still like to get a NOS replacement.

The Part is still available from Simplicity. The original part #122131 has been superseded to #7019547YP.

But it's not cheap, about $28 at Jack's.
