Guest
I have inherited this tractor (Allis Chalmers, Big Ten) with a mower deck and snow blade. I have no paper work with it at all. I would like to know more about it; such as age, ease of getting parts, and what it might be worth. Any help will be much appreciated. My e-mail is Beards14@yahoo.com I have no picture at this time. Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.
BradW
I haven't had any problems getting parts for my Big Ten, check out the sponsors on the site they have been very helpful. My best luck has been to use the Simplicity Landlord parts sheets to order new pieces, some of the vendors have even photo copied the Simplicity pages for me to show how everything goes together....look for the numbers on the engine and on the back of the seat, these will help you determine the age of the tractor. Kent has some great info about the Big Ten on the web site, he also owns a Big Ten himself so he may know more about the tractor than myself. Good Luck, Gene
Kent
There's too much to tell about your Big Ten... it's either a 1965 or 1966, and is essentially the same tractor as the later model B-10s. (You can see the specific differences listed on the first page of the B-10/B-12 section.) You can see a sales brochure describing it in the Allis-Chalmers section. Many of the parts are still available new, but they'll likely be painted Simplicity Red/Orange. You can still some manuals for it from Simplicity. The B-Series Service Manual, for sure, is still available. It's hard to estimate value since that is based upon primarily the condition of the tractor, its options and attachments, where you're located and the time of year... Check the Registry to see what others have paid for theirs. Here's a picture of mine and a link to more. There's also a story in the Do-It-Yourself section of how I built it...
