stevenj 4 Posted August 28, 2015 I've got a spare set of narrow front wheels from a B-210. Thinking about putting them on my 7117. I will need to get a new set of tires first as the existing ones are heavily checked on the sidewalls. Thinking the steering may be easier. Has anyone done this and are there any negatives? Mike_H 92 Posted August 28, 2015 You'll probably have to put new spindles on too...
Talntedmrgreen 1,978 Posted August 28, 2015 I know on the early tractors the spindles were the same length for 12hp (wide rim) and 10hp (narrrow rim) tractors. Not sure if they extended them later on. I prefer narrow for steering control in the winter or in the garden. I like wide on turf.
BLT 718 Posted August 28, 2015 Like this? I got those off of a snowblower, Sno Hogs and use them year around with ATV tires in the rear and the are not hard on the grass. I also have tri ribs for my 101. I got the rims all from "B's" and like "Simps".
Tom45 66 Posted August 28, 2015 I have the narrow wheels on my 7117 also and think the steer easier. I do have problems sometime with the front wheels flattening the grass and then the mower not cutting it the same as where it has not been run over but I believe this would happen with the wider tires also.
