got the aftermarket (made in Taiwan) coil, pn 290880.

have a parts motor so I took the magnamatic from that to set up the new part on. since the coil has been on the armature for over 60 years, it would not slide off. I cut it off and polished the armature.

but it doesn't slide all the way thru the new coil, barely halfway thru.

should I use some kind of lubricant on it? maybe a light oil or grease? silicon spray?

right now the armature is in the freezer shrinking a bit (I told 'she who must be obey'd' because surprising her with these sort of things can cause problems-never use her oven and oven-off to clean pistons, unless she is going to be out of town for a few days)

Or might try a very light sanding to the inside of the coil and armature.

I once left some freeze dried salted minnows in the freezer once. Yeah I forgot about them and the wife found them.....
