pwrstrokin 0 Posted February 3, 2002 Hi I have a B110 and I don't thing the battery is being charged up. I only get 10.5 volt across it. I checked the generator from A to ground and get 10.5 volts. A to F is 11 - 12 volts. Not to sure how to check the system out. thanks for the help. Jim
Sandy_Lake_Imp 2 Posted February 3, 2002 These tractors had a fuse for the charging system, was originally clipped to the top edge of the dash panel under the hood behind the gas tank. Look for one. Bill
yeoman 0 Posted February 3, 2002 I have an idea. Start engine and run it at full throttle. Position a digital volt meter on the correct battery posts. If the system works it should read about 13 volts. Also look in the Service Manual and check out the specs for the generator. Hope this works, that is too good of tractor to not be used. pwrstrokin 0 Posted February 3, 2002 Thanks Yeoman and Sandy, The fuse is a 20amp between the starter switch and ammeter. It's good. I ran it at all different speeds and still only 10.5 volts. The ammeter reads 0 amps while running at any RPM unless I turn on the light then it goes Neg.(-6 to-12). When I first started the machine the ammeter was way Neg.(-40), after a couple of minutes it came to 0. Thanks Jim
D-17_Dave 12 Posted February 3, 2002 The old Briggs repair manuals have very easy to follow directions on the gen. reg. problems. Pick up a copy, it's money well spent. Even better is a hardbound book of all the engine breakdowns with the part #s. this help when you call the local supplier and some idiot can't figure out the computer. Dutch 4 Posted February 3, 2002 Jim, Polarize the system and then read Al Eden's excellent trouble shooting guide for the starter/generators.
