ARTC 0 Posted February 5, 2002 Well after many hours of reading and calling around to different Briggs dealers and even the factory, I have come to a conclusion....No one is really sure about how to handle the ignition/repolarization issue. I have been fixing heating and air conditioning equiptment for 17 years and would never have guessed that an old single cylinder engine would kick my butt. I'm no engine expert by any means, I'm learning as I go, but I didnt think there would be such a difference of opinion even between dealers. Bottom line... I already have the magnetron system installed and the engine is all mounted to the tractor, I have spark and except for adjusting the carb, the engine seems to be running ok. ( I didn't do anything to the flywheel ). I'm just going to go for it and see how it holds up this summer, I'll let you all know how it goes. Thank you to everyone who has ever posted a thread on this subject. Gene
Dutch 4 Posted February 5, 2002 Try and get 2 or more HVAC guys to agree on duct size, routing, & return placement. So how did you make out with the "no shut off" problem? Did you find the right wire off the ignition switch?
Woodydel 0 Posted February 5, 2002 Murph, You used to simply short the plug to the engine with a thin piece of steel attached to the head. That's why I said to short the high tension wire to ground with the switch so you wouldn't "go nuts" trying to fix something that already worked. MikeES 469 Posted February 5, 2002 Woody, I'm going to use your idea and solder a wire to the top of the ignition wire route it to the switch and then to ground. That should do the trick. Thanks
SmilinSam 4,244 Posted February 7, 2002 This is exactly how I use a "short-out" system on some of my tractors I chose not to buy new ignition switches for as yet.
