Dutch 4 Posted February 6, 2002 Have you Pow-R-Max guys checked this out? James, It looks like you've been busy with the welder. Way to go.......... JeffG 0 Posted February 6, 2002 All I can say is "Wow!". Great job, James! Looks like you really put your PowerMax (and your welder) to good use. Awesome machines, indeed. Jeff
Kent 436 Posted February 6, 2002 Yes, Herb -- I seriously thought about a Honda twin, but decided on the old reliable cast iron Briggs 16... Couple of factors determined it. First and most importantly was the $$, and second, I didn't want to lose the front PTO pulley or have to figure out how to put a Lovejoy or something on it.... Hondas are just soooooooooo quiet in comparison to any other one that I've heard......
Dtrain 0 Posted February 6, 2002 Wow again! Makes me happy I just bought an A-C 620. Lots of possibilities in your pics! Thanks. Dave
powermax_paul 1 Posted February 6, 2002 Looks great to me too. I'd love to put a Honda in one of mine too, but gotta wait till one of the Onan's goes bad. Good Job! Paul
JeffG 0 Posted February 6, 2002 Paul, Hopefully you'll be able to wait a long, long time. Floydster's got over 3000 hours on each of his 620's Onans - that sounds pretty good to me. I've can't really complain about these old Onan's - unbeatable power and torque. Once you figure out all the little idiosyncrasies and get everything properly adjusted - they perform flawlessly! JeffG 0 Posted February 8, 2002 Say it ain't so, Floydster! I can definitely understand, though. Does sound like a viable option worth considering. It's nice knowing that we finally have a 'bolt in' option, too - know what I mean? Jeff
Floydster 0 Posted February 8, 2002 Jeff, The engine on my loader tractor is still running pretty good, I can't really believe the dedication this engines have given me. The compression is down to arould 90 psi. on one of the cylinders, but it still runs really well. I am also very happy about the option to change to another engine, as these tractors are one of the last of a good breed, but the power of the old CCKB's are really going to be hard too beat. I have a 60" snow plow on one of my 620's and it is not to believe the snow this machine can move. Floydster
Floydster 0 Posted February 8, 2002 Yup, The old CCKB's are one tough engine, but it takes a lot of maintenance to keep them running good. The points and the fuel pumps are the biggest problem on these old gals. been running these Onans for over 23 years now, but am thinking of replacing one with the Honda 24hp. V-twin. The CCKB on the loader tractor is getting a little tired. Floydster
