No Spark on Briggs

Recommended Posts

Repairing a 16 HP Brigs from a Simplicity 871 4993, Engine 326431.

Engine ran fair before I pulled it out to repair the oil pan.

First I noticed that while it started and ran, I later saw there was no wire connection coming out of the point box. Hmmmmmm. Low and behold when I took the shroud off, then the coil, it had the button, or "maybetron" coil in it. Strange as to me they had no electronic ignition back then.

Checked the gap and cleaned all, no improvement. Even tried a new same type coil, nothing. All I know is still no spark.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁

It's in pretty sad shape, but yes I have a yellow plastic cap that I'm fairly certain is what you need. PM me your details and I'll get it out to you.
