Questions on Bevel Gear Box

Howdy;

Doing the maintenance on my Simplicity checking the fluids. On the BGB that Street L on the Box is 7/16" and half way down on the box itself.

Any tricks on how to remove it, save fabricating a special tool?

You wanting to take out the street L or just the plug out of the top of it?

I just use a short wrench on the plug.

If you want the L out, might be easier to take the entire cover off.

The L is a calibrated value for filling, I wouldn't take it off. There should be a drain plug below it. For better filling, I like to open the top vent plug and leave the L open to tell when it's full.
