hurleyii 227 Posted November 8, 2015 Eeek guys!! All is well I caught it right away. A build up of leaf dust and leaves from the leaf collection over the last two weeks in the grill caught fire from the muffler being so close! This might be something to be worried about with the Predator engines to!
rich_kildow 269 Posted November 8, 2015 Good catch and good point! The stock mufflers on the predators are VERY close to the grill. I always make a point of blowing the engine out with air after doing anything with leaves or grass. My motivation is cleanliness, though...I never thought of a fire hazard. hurleyii 227 Posted November 8, 2015 I was driving bit still when it caught on fire. My grill was pushed back along with my hood using a JD snow plow
Kenh 37 Posted November 8, 2015 Combine fires are caused by the same thing. Just a "few" more dollars at stake though. When i worked at a Stihl dealership we sold more leaf blowers to farmers than we did to homeowners. The moral of the story is to keep all the combustibles away from a heat source as we have already been taught. Ken
dentwizz 6 Posted November 8, 2015 Might be a good reason to keep an ABC extinguisher behind the seat. In fact I might do that soon with misc brush/chainsaw/clearing work at hand. As a policy I keep one in each car under the driver seat, but all the more reason to keep one for field work.
