2003 Prestige Steering Screech

When turning the steering wheel (engine on or off) there is sometimes a loud screeching sound like metal rubbing together. It is really difficult to tell where it is coming from, best guess is under the tractor where gears mesh. Has anyone else had this problem and could point me to a solution?

Check the pinion and sector gear. I had them go out a couple of years ago on my Prestige. No screeching just binding.

After oiling everything I could find under the tractor, it ended up the noise was coming from under the boot by the steering wheel. I put some oil on top of the boot and let it run down inside and the noise went away.
