small frame blower attachment

The spring allows the snowblower to “ride” over bumps and inclines when the lift lever is locked. If it was a solid lift rod, the snowblower would dig into the bump or would lift the front of the tractor, if the lift lever was locked. I don't think the spring would be necessary on flat, even ground.

Hope this helps!

Make this simple lift rod from 2 low-cost hardware store parts:

3 foot threaded rod and the threaded yoke.

Heat one end with your torch, pound out the threads for a few inches,

bend the angle and then drill a hole for a retaining pin.

Hold it up to the tractor and cut the threaded rod to the length you need, then screw on the yoke.

Less than $10 and 10 minutes of work.

Well, made the deal yesterday. Met an early member of SimpleTractors, JohnSup. He said he joined in the late 90's. I hadn't been on the internet yet! He's gathered a bunch over the years including 2 powermaxes, which I had never seen in person before, svereal dozen large frames down back in his "parts pile" and many attachments. He had neither rod so he let me have it for $75, which I was very pleased with. Nice guy, we chatted for an hour.

It looks to be very lightly used. The scraper bar is barely worn and everything moves freely. After I got home, I found a lift rod the came with a plow, I'll see if that works. If not, making something should be pretty simple. I had a chute rod on a 3-pulley blower head that came with some trade, so I'm covered there. Are those 3-pulley heads of any use above scrape metal? I've got 2.On the way out to John's I saw this on the side of the road with a "Free" sign on it.

The tires and rims are good, 23-8.50x12. Any idea what the trans is from? The loose wheel is crap and I took it only to chock the unit from rolling around in the family truck, my wife's SUV.:D

Hello, I know that the rear ends are used on pulling tractors and the rear hubs are sold on ebay all the time. I think the trans are made by peerless.

Thanks Ken in Mi

  • 3 weeks later...

I got the blower attached and the chute on and working. (kind of... needs more grease) The lift rod is an issue.

PC110872.JPG

One rod has been hacked and the other may be for the A/C 414; it doesn't bend the right way. I have the small pedals like Josh's A/C above. I got a solid rod that came with a generic plow to work but it rides to the outside of the peddle, not inboard the way Josh has it. Next is routing the belt. Next weekend.
