dhoadley 1,747 Posted November 22, 2015 ...well, its not supposed to be. My Little Wonder walk-behind has a poorly running 5hp B&S. Hard to start, needs to run with the chute closed for a while (no work load) before opening the chute to use, uses oil. Today I noticed a little jet engine-like flame coming from the exhaust. I looked closer and the muffler was cherry red. Uncombusted oil residue coating the muffler then burning off? What say ye. Thanx, Dave
DanD 9 Posted November 22, 2015 Might be out of time. Neighbor sheared flywheel key on his Kohler equipped Deere and was firing late. Ran horribly and muffler glowed red hot 30 seconds after starting. I fixed it for him with 75 cents worth of parts.

dhoadley 1,747 Posted November 23, 2015 Yeah, I'll dig into it over the winter. That'll give me a couple of things to look for. Thanx, Dave
