BillC 0 Posted February 9, 2002 I believe the B&S Vanguard engine series will drop right in, but you cannot drive a snowblower with the front PTO.
JohnN 0 Posted February 9, 2002 I have a 7010 with a blown Briggs, I'm in the process of painting it(this spring) and put a Kohler 12hp in it. As for the Vanguard, if thats the option you chose you can make or have made a drive system similiar to a 7100 series for the snowblower. Since my tractor had a briggs in it I'll need to rewire it for the Kohler, I like cast iron engines. John
PatRarick 1 Posted February 9, 2002 The Vanguard will require some modifications. See responses to message #6199 above. My personal opinion is that I see little difference in the V-twin engines from the standpoint of torque, lugging power, or the smoothness or quietness of which they operate. My personal preferance is Briggs, as these engines and the parts for them, are lower priced than a comparable Kohler or Honda. In my area, there is little difference in the parts availability of Kohler or Briggs. Both are excellent. Honda is ridiculous to try to find parts. Almost everything has to be ordered in, no matter which Honda dealer I have tried. The price of Honda parts is also out of this world. Pat
Dutch 4 Posted February 9, 2002 Has anyone tried re-fitting a 7012 with a different engine? as with the 9020s and the Honda? I would like to hear from you. Thanks to members who have taken time to answer questions...great resource, good guys.
