Noly 2 Posted December 21, 2015 son bought me a new gas cap,old number 2171252am as recommended, will not fit into tank the float is to big.tried it on my Homelite T16S fits in tank but will not thread on tank. old cap on Homelite screws right on 914H. any ideas? MikeES 458 Posted December 21, 2015 Some of the plastic tanks have a little lip on the inside edge of the fill spout that you need to trim so the newer floats will fit. Just be careful so the trimmings don't fall into the gas tanks. I stuffed a rag in the fill spout and with a very sharp knife cut the inside edge with about a 45 degree taper. I have had to do this on 2 tanks so far and the new gas gauge/cap work just fine. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
