dhoadley 1,747 Posted January 8, 2016 I have 3 nearly identical Broadmoor engine that I want to rebuild into 2 working engines. 2 of them are 191700-0638 and the 3rd is 170701-2010. I've gotten 2 numbers for std ring; 499921 & 690014. One is for cast iron bore and the other for aluminum bore. Which do I have? Thanx, Dave
720nut 4,225 Posted January 8, 2016 IMO best to pull head and see first hand what you've got. As they say seeing is believing
dhoadley 1,747 Posted January 8, 2016 How would I know what I'm looking at? What am I looking for?
theniteowl 29 Posted January 8, 2016 Put a magnet to the inside of the cylinder. It will not stick to the aluminum. I suspect the 170701 is aluminum which I believe the 7HP in my Broadmoor is but it has a type code of 0122. I do not know what differences the type code refer to. For these aluminum engines you will need to make sure you get chrome rings. If you manage to verify the cylinder type please post here, I have not looked into mine yet. I know the 6HP Broadmoor engine had the aluminum block.
720nut 4,225 Posted January 8, 2016 There is a deffinate difference between aluminum and cast liner. Like he said put a magnet to it
