Work light / Tail light combo for B10 ?

Recommended Posts

I came accross two rear work lights at my Dads house in a box of tractor parts downstairs. Did anyone ever hear of these being used on the lawn tractors. They are made by Guide and have black trim rings. The unusual part is that they have a three position swich which allows for either work light on, red tail light on, or both off. When I pulled the work light bulb out of its case, it is red on the back and a round circle is not plated inside of the bulb. A smaller bulb sets behind the large bulb lined up with the hole, and acts as the tail light. Was this used on the lawn tractors. I cant find any info on these. One of the work bulbs is burnt out. If anyone has heard of them, maybe they might know if the bulbs are still available. This is a long shot. I would like to mount the working one on the rear of his early B10, but do not have a bracket. If anyone has a template of the bracket,or better yet the actual thing, please let me know.

I have not seen these on lawn tractors, but they were quite common on farm tractors and equipment. Pat

I'm not sure if this is a "Guide" brand light or not (it was VERY rusty when I got it in a box of miscellaneous parts), but it has a 2-position toggle switch on it to switch it from the red tail light to the work light... The red bulb was blown and I couldn't find a replacement red bulb, so I'm using a yellow one -- it looks neat... Check Manufacturer's Supply catalog, if your local Napa can't find a replacement bulb for you. Manufacturer's Supply's printed catalog lists 4-1/2" bulbs with two screw terminals... Wow, I just checked and these bulbs are expensive! Here's the link, anyway.[A href='http://www.mfgsupply.com/cgi-bin/cat.cgi/search.html?mv_profile=search_profile&mv_searchspec=sealed+beam'][img src='http://www.simpletractors.com/images/big10_delux/Dcp00306.jpg'][/a]

Another source for 4 1/2" bulbs is your local Harley-Davidson shop. Harley models with passing lamps use the bulbs, but instead of the screw on teminals they use a push on connector. Have the parts guy check the police parts supplement if you want a red or blue bulb. Aftermarket vendors have amber lamps available, and lamps with fluted or clear lenses. The prices are competitive with Manufacturers Supply- Rich

My 7018H has one of these lights on it. As far as I know it came with the tractor. I guess I assumed that they were common. DaveM
