do any of you guys know if a kt-17 starter will fit a 20 hp kohler magnum engine thanks. the 20 hp wont engage after about 5 or 6 times it will kick in and start.

It will fit and should work, but they did make a slightly larger starter for the 20 magnum. It sounds like it just needs a good cleaning. That will usually free up the gear and it will engage properly.

The starter on my KT19 would not engage when it was below zero. I removed it, and it was slathered in oil inside and out from a leak. Cleaned up and now it works first time every time.

Don't you have to remove the engine to get to the starter on the KT?

id="quote">Yup. The engine came out to fix the oil leak. I need to do it again as the fix failed. Maybe I missed one as there was oil everywhere.Ken
