Tutt 0 Posted February 11, 2002 I got an aftermarket work lamp to attach somehow to the rear of my BIG TEN. I plan on attaching without drilling any new holes, so I can change my mind in the future. My question is: should I wire a separate switch, or wire it to the headlamp switch? I would thihk that it would be nice to have the option to not have the rear light on sometimes. Just curious what others have. Tutt
SmilinSam 4,245 Posted February 11, 2002 I used to drill a hole in the rear lamp and install a seperate switch for it in the lamp housing itself and tie the power to the front lights. This way when you turn the lights on you can turn the rear one off if you don't want it. Lately, however I just wire them all on one circuit and forgo the sperate switch for the rear. Simply a matter of preference.
CleanBee 0 Posted February 11, 2002 I wired mine to a 20A center off toggle switch. Radio Shack sells the switch, it is metal and looks identical to the old headlamp switch on my Fathers tractor. One position is for the headlamps, the other is for all 3 lights. The wiring I ran through a brake line. I keeps it from getting tangled up in the business end of the tractor. Kent 436 Posted February 11, 2002 Get an aftermarket 3-position pull switch, which has OFF, PARKING and HEADLIGHT positions. Wire the headlights to the tail light terminal (they'll be on in either of the switches "ON" positions), wire the work light to the headlight terminal (it'll be "ON" only when the switch is pulled fully out). I got mine at Napa and it has a 20amp fuse on the switch itself -- about $5... That's how I've wired both of mine....
