Allis Chalmers 914 H not charging

AC 914H not charging and will not turn over with push button. can sometimes start by jumping pos post to starter. I need guidance on what how to check,Thanks for your help. 20 miles to mechanic.

Roger, had a 7116 that was doing the same thing, bypassed all switches and found it to be spades on ignition switch. It didn't look to be corroded but was enough to keep from turning over and starting. As for charging you'll have to ask someone knowledgeable on that not my specailty. Just my .02

Push button must have been ad on. Check for loose wires from source to starter.

No charging problem was a disconnected wire. the no start problem was SOMEONE did not get the pto shut completely off, the safety switch works fine. THANKS for your help
