The rubber piece that goes around my steering shaft is totally worn out, it is the piece that goes thru the instrument panel. Is this part available ?

What is everyone else using for a fix ?

I think for that price I can make something for 2 bucks or less, that will work !

I have some large circular solid rubber, drill a hole thru it, lil smaller than the shaft and slide it up where it needs to go. I can even go so far as to put a brass bushing in it.

A set collar slides right in that tube. You can unbolt the bottom of the steering shaft. pull it up 1/2" tighten the set collar in the right place and put it back together. ;) I've seen that collar on the steering shaft, and it is the same on the front wheel spindles.

The correct part has a lip on it, so it won't slide down inside the tube.

actually parts tree does have this part available. No way I was spending that kind of money for something I could fab myself.

I really like rokon ideal. and it cost me 0.

I have taken some fine sandpaper and cleaned up the steering shaft below the steering wheel. Then I tap the steering wheel further on to the shaft. Then I'll take the fine sandpaper and clean up the steering shaft and use a puller to gently pull the steering wheel off.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
