Any experience doing this?

I have a twin cylinder Kohler magnum engine that I want to install in a Simplicity tractor. I have a frame, hood, rear fender from a 7117 hydro with manual lift. I can buy a 7016 hydro manual lift roller at a reasonable price. Has anyone married a rear end from a 7000 series to a 7100 series frame as I am contemplating? Any problems that you can see? Thanks.

I believe you should be able to bolt right up, as the BGB is what holds it all otgether, and that is the same on both. However, I also know the 7100 has a longer frame. Whether that means having a different driveshaft, brake rod, hydro linkage, etc., that I do not know. I am sure it has been done, as I have seen many Frankentrators in the Simplicity / Allis line.

Pretty sure the mid pto's are different. If you intend to run a snow blower in the future, you will want the 7100 side plates to accomodate the correct pto.

The steering gears are the same but the arm on the sector gear will need be mounted differently if you are using a 7100 front frame. That arm connects to one end of the link that goes to the steering arm on the left front steering spindle.

The tensioning (swing) arms and pulleys are different and you'll want to get one from the 7100. That way you only need one PTO for blowing and mowing.

If you have the frame from the BGB forward for the 7100 series, and the rear end assembly from a 700 series, I don't think there will be any issues with steering, or any other items from the BGB forward. Just potential linkages from the fron tot he rear, and issues with the idler pulley and bracket for running front attachements driven by the center PTO. If I am thinking correctly.
