johnmonkey 4 Posted February 14, 2002 Great news! I can't wait to see the pictures. I have been working (slowly) on restoring my free simp 700. I only have repainted the front rims and will get the new tires mounted on friday 2/15. After that I want to pull the motor and find out what is going on with that. I know the drive train needs new fiber disk couplings. A little paint and I should be mowing/tilling this summer. Good luck with yours John H. P.S. would you happen to have an extra tiller for a model 700 or 725? I need one desperatly.
Woodydel 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Well the deal is done! My offer was taken and tractor will be picked up on Saturday. It would be right this instant if my truck weren't in for service for the last two days. I'll take pics and post the "as found" episode. He's in China so his nephew did all the international negotiations. Here are the "as found" pics. Serial number 6424, even earlier than my first. Narrow deck, maybe a '59...Got my cart as well....Woody http://image.photoloft.com/opx-bin/OpxFIDISA.dll?src=/PhotoLoft/Asset18/2002/02/14/8985/8985275_0_6460.fpx,0,0,1,1,640,960,FFFFFF

MPH 12 Posted February 14, 2002 Nice find Woody!!!!!One more saved from turning into rust dust.. John, the tiller attachment for a Model "W" walker will fit your 700/725 also. All you need to do is turn the drive pulley around, gives you a wider hunting range..MPH
StinKy 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Nice catch Woody! Your "as found" photos are really going to make this restoration story one for the books. Now that I have digital camera I will do the same on my next find. Did you happen to check if the engine still turns over or has it been run recently? BTW make sure it isnt a copy----ya know they're good at that sort of thing!!! LOL.. Dick
BigSix 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Woody: Nice piece! But I think I gotcha beat on low serial #'s, as my 700 is # 6208. But I'm envious of all the attachments. I can also see how much better mine will look if I ever find the hood emblems and grill! Nice find, Peter
ka9bxg 3 Posted February 14, 2002 Looks like the incorect engine in it but real nice find.Hope that they did not chop the hood to get that engine to fit in there. One of the ones that I got was chopped. That cart is rare and nice to have.I used my 3 belt blower this year and they work as well as I reamber from years ago.Bob

johnmonkey 4 Posted February 15, 2002 What is that round thing on the rear lift group? Is it a counter weight? John H
Kent 436 Posted February 15, 2002 John, it is actually two pieces. There's a 25 lb counterweight that goes in the rear lift, plus another 25 lb (???) auxilliary (i.e. donut) weight that clamps onto the counterweight. You could actually add at least two of these donuts, if not three. Three donuts would give 100 lbs total... http://www.simpletractors.com/images/b_attachments_images/rear_wght.jpg
