boblohse 0 Posted March 4, 2016 I've used the bent screw driver method to put shift forks in proper position many times and now have a broken axle shaft tube,so case needs to be split. What actually wears out causing shift fork problem so it can be corrected when I go in?Any suggestions greatly welcome. BLT 718 Posted March 5, 2016 Go to page 26 of the attached: http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/heCyEN8cuJYrE3CG.5kbp796Dq.pdf Items R & S are detent ball & springs that are supposed to ride on shafts L & M . They are supposed to line in neutral so you use either fork , item Q. Sometimes the spring weakens and doesn't hold the fork and that will block you from any shifting. That what I found a long time ago on a similar transmission.
boblohse 0 Posted March 16, 2016 Disassembled transmission found a snap ring missing on a shift shaft possibly allowing excessive fork travel along with weak springs hopefully an easy repair.
