720nut 4,225 Posted March 31, 2016 Just replaced my belts seeing how stop got into old ones and chewed them up. I spent two hours yesterday trying to get them on but to no avail. Today I tried a different approach and it worked much better. I had been trying to put them on the bottom pulley first but found out if I put them on engine first I could just roll them into place much easier, front belt on against flywheel and second on first pulley then roll on bottom then roll onto back pulley starting with top first. Then put front on and roll onto driveshaft pulley. Hope this makes sense but I was thinking my 620 is a dedicated loader tractor so I run a pulley hub to drive hydraulic pump and can just grab pulley and turn engine, not sure how you would do with clutch. Anyway it worked great for me about 10 minutes

isetta 50 Posted March 31, 2016 Did you loosen the clutch at all?
720nut 4,225 Posted March 31, 2016 Yes I took the spring off and tied the clutch pedal down. when I rebuilt tractor I took pulley on engine loose as nothing else was in the road, but considerably harder with everything in the way. I didn't think to take pictures till I was done.
blangkabel 0 Posted April 1, 2016 When I put new belts on, I loosened the engine mounting bolts tip engine slightly and they go on easy.
720nut 4,225 Posted April 2, 2016 Thought about loosening bolts but would have had to take several belts off, as it was had half of tractor tore apart. Belt stop somehow got into belts, bolt was tight. This is the 620 that had the bad hydro so I believe we stretched the belts and caused them to fail. I only had an hours running on old belts.
