JMAC 1 Posted April 14, 2016 I need help on a replacement motor for this Broadmoor.Kohler motor is blown and i have decided to keep the mower.I would like to replace with a similar B & S motor but don't have a clue where to start.I don't want to get involved in lengthy modifications so a simple swap is what I'm looking for.Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. http://s1377.photobucket.com/user/IMKCMAC/library/SIMPLICITY%20BROADMOOR?sort=3&page=
steve-wis 637 Posted April 14, 2016 Hi Jerry, I am also a toolmaker, not retired yet tho, but in a few years. I am not sure on a direct swap, but I do know that the wiring will be different so there would be some work to do there, and possibly an ignition switch change. Otherwise I think the only other difference may require risers under the engine for correct position. I am sure another member has experience and will jump in with specifics. Mike_H 92 Posted April 14, 2016 Well...The easiest thing to do is replace it with another kohler...but if you are sold on Briggs, I'd actually look for an old craftsman, MTD, Yardman, Etc. All those engines had vertical shaft engines, and then you'll be sure of getting all the wiring bits you need (correct ignition, mainly). Scrap the rest of the tractor, and keep what you need. There isn't much to these small engines to make them run. I think I have a pdf of the electrical diagram for your tractor too, if you're interested. It will probably help with the change.
