BJennings 0 Posted February 18, 2002 Just finally getting my Big Ten put back together after adding electronic ignition. I'm now having carb problems. The engine wont run unless the choke is fully on. Has anyone got any suggestions? I rebuilt it about 10 years ago. It hasn't ran much at all since then. Maybe that was harder on it than if it was running? Should I rebuild again or look for another one?
KenK 0 Posted February 18, 2002 Sounds like its possibly sucking air somewhere. Which would lean out your mixture. Could be head gasket, carb or intake gaskets.Unless, carb just needs overhauled.Best of luck.
MPH 12 Posted February 18, 2002 Sounds like your not getting gas through, ie needs full choke, so for a quickie you might try screwing the main jet out while its running, if your lucky some small blockage may pass through. If no luck with that maybe just a good cleaning job will get rid of 10 yrs dried substance..Seems sitting is harder on things than using them..MPH
yeoman 0 Posted February 18, 2002 Cleaning the carb and using a good carb cleaner is usually all it takes. Hope it works.
JonetteP 0 Posted February 18, 2002 One problem we have ran into is the carb halves warping. I would rebuild the carb and check to make sure the two halves are flat.
