Loader Hydraulic Fluid

Recommended Posts

I'm getting a Sunstar Mfg# 1692932 loader ready for use. Because of exposure etc, I want to flush and replace the hydraulic fluid. According to the Operator Manual, AW#15 or Type A or Type F transmission fluid is acceptable. The loader doesn't have the red stuff in it now so I went to my favorite supplier (Rural King) for hydraulic oil. What is available is AW(ISO)32 (SAE 10), AW(ISO)46 (SAE 15), and AW(ISO)68 (SAE 20).

censored1.gif is AW#15?

My late model loaders called for type F, so I put type F in them. Every place that sells motor oil has it. I also use it in my trannys, so it helps keep the variety of jugs down. I had read in the Sunstrand manual that Type F also tends to offer a broader suggested operating temp range.

I use SAE30 in my engines, early hydrolifts and early loaders, also per the book. 10w30 for winter in the engines...sometimes.

AG hydraulic oil has never been mentioned in any of the lawn and garden manuals I have read, so Ive never had cause to buy it.

IIRC, Type F ATF had more "friction" material in it as opposed to Dexron. That's why Ford transmissions always shifted firm.

That, and $1.00 will buy you a coffee in most any restaurant.....

I just go by the book, and it sounds like type A and F are very readily available. I am not sure what AW15 is, but a quick read on ATF-F claims it contains anti-wear 'stuff'.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁

It's in pretty sad shape, but yes I have a yellow plastic cap that I'm fairly certain is what you need. PM me your details and I'll get it out to you.
