PhanDad 3,616 Posted June 5, 2016 Cleaning out a box of junk I got when I picked up a 3416 years ago. This part was in the box. At first I thought it was for a deck idler arm (pivot "bolt"), but it's only threaded on one end, so that's not it. It's an NLA part so I can't find any info. Anyone know what it is or used for? PhanDad 3,616 Posted June 6, 2016 OK Mr Wizard, the check's in the mail. Expect it sometime, but be patient, very patient. I knew I recognized that part and it was for a deck, just not the part I thought. I've even threaded the end to add a stop nut to stop the spring from riding up and releasing. But how do you do it? A photographic memory? Or do you have a master part#/mfg# cross reference? I usually use Jack's parts database to find info but he recently changed to the newer "Parts Tree" type database. The newer databases give you mfg# where the part is used, but if it's NLA, you're out of luck.
BLT 718 Posted June 6, 2016 Bill, it is/was like your check, a stroke of luck. I did work on a 48" mower not too long ago and I thought it held the spring for the idler pulley and I knew what mower deck it was, so I took a shot, whala! Don't expect much more as I blew out most of my memory circuit breakers on that one,he,he. Cheers.
TimJr 206 Posted June 6, 2016 Pretty sure that was also used as the pedal stop on the early Broadmoor tractors. The 156xxx numbers were for the early Broadmoors, generally.
