AC 416 bevel gearbox rebuild

Recommended Posts

I'm new here so bear with me, I'm currently rebuilding the bevel gearbox for my ac 416 hydro,I have it torn down and have sourced most of the bearings and seals online, that being said the ball bearing on the input shaft seems to have a unique inner race that locates the bearing at a specific point on the shaft. The # on the bearing is a bca 205n14,online search has produced several sources but the images seem to indicate these parts only have a standard inner race.Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

After closer examination and further disassembly what looked like a unique race turned out to be just a spacer located with a snap ring. The # on the bearing is a bca 205n14 which I sourced from a local bearing distributor. According to the illustrated bevel gearbox diagram on the sepw site this bearing is also used on the pulley shaft. Now all that's left is to find or modify a new wood ruff key for the driven gear since the original has suffered serious deformation from years of torque and vibration which created a lot of freeplay between the input shaft and the input bevel gear.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁

It's in pretty sad shape, but yes I have a yellow plastic cap that I'm fairly certain is what you need. PM me your details and I'll get it out to you.
