Simplicity 7117 throttle cable

Any ideas how to tighten up the throttle cable on my 7117 ? I have tightened the nut on the throttle lever as tight as I can but the cable is still too loose and the engine rpm will not stay where I set the throttle while I am mowing. The rpm lowers and I constantly have to raise the lever to keep rpms up. Thanks

Only thing I can think of would be to shim it so as to tighten it,or purchase new. Would be better if posted under Talkin Tractors Just my .02

Is the plastic washer behind the nut worn out or missing?
