f147pu
I have a #1691419 deck on a 4212 tractor and need to replace a bearing. How do I get the two halves of the housing apart? Don't want to beat on it.
BLT
Welcome to the club. Both halves are held with a Form a gasket like adhesive. In the back of this manual you'll see the brakdown. http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/heCBEN8aoO3rE7CM65kbp796Dq.pdf
f147pu
Thanks for the reply. I have the manual and saw to apply sealant when reassembling, but do I just forcefully pry them apart? I hate to really beat on it for fear of warping one or the other.

f147pu
Thanks to all for the responses. I found that the top bolt was barely tightened and when I removed it the threads were in bad shape so thinking the the shaft may be the same. Also the bottom end of the shaft was butchered to where there were no splines to mate with the spline washer. Given the difficulty of getting the thing apart I decided to just replace the whole thing with parts from Jack. I need a mower and have a Simplicity Grabber and an antique car that I have to work on. Does anyone know of another living Grabber? I've not found any except one in Australia that was on Ebay years ago. Again, Thank you all.
