Legacy odd electrical issue

Recommended Posts

Grasslakeron

Greetings All,

I have a 1999 Legacy. I am having an odd electrical issue. The tractor starts and runs, but all other electrical parts stop working 5-8 seconds after starting. Those same electrical parts (lights, etc...) work again once the engine has stopped and the key is on.

Any insights would be helpful.....THANKS

Ron

If left alone, do they come back on again in a few minutes? There is a breaker that will kick in and out if there is a short or overly strong drain somewhere. Otherwise, I would disconnect the harnesses, battery, connections, etc. and clean them up and reassmeble. I have had luck many times with electrical issues simply by cleaning up connections.

As mentioned above, disassemble and clean all the electrical connections you can get to. Start with the battery connections and the main ground cable that goes to the tractor frame.

Disconnect your pto lead and see if it might be shorted. I had to retrofit to resetting breakers on my HB112 for the power clutch since it was tripping so often until I found a coil short.
