The farmer I worked for years ago, had a Powermax. He and his mechanic designed an extendable boom for the back of it. They mounted an old push mower to the end of it, without wheels, and handle.

You could extend the boom manually for trimming, or line it up just outside the width of the Powewrmax deck, to increase the cutting width, similar to one of these.
