Gcabinet1 16 Posted August 1, 2016 Hi guys Got the engine running pretty well now. Working on charging system and some miscellaneous things .i have a bad rectifier and regulator, hope that's it on the charging system. When I put the clutch in I get a fair amount of noise, kind of a chirping noise.bad belts? Or are they noisy by nature? Thanks again for all the help Gary
JimS 1 Posted August 2, 2016 When you say put the clutch in do you mean letting the pedal up and engaging the drive? I have had worn bearings in the jackshaft that made a similar noise in that situation.

midnightpumpkin 83 Posted August 3, 2016 Gary, With the pedal released, I recently had a tractor that I was sure had bad bearings in the clutch jackshaft. It turned out to be the belts. BTW I use gates 6824 kevlar belts, NAPA 4L240W is the same belt. They are green. Biedlers belts on line is the least expensive place to buy them. JimS 1 Posted August 3, 2016 You can check the belts by spraying some water on them to see if the chirp goes away.
