I usually use the USPS or UPS to ship items , but now I am trying to ship something that exceeds their limits, but not by much. What shippers has everyone used that are reasonable??? Thanks

Les, The cheapest to ship big things is Forward Air. I mean big as in whole tractors. The only drawback is the shipping is only between their terminals and you must pick up the shipment at their terminal. Also they have not spread to every part of the country. Between their terminals the rate will be between $23-27 per hundred pounds. Take a look at their site.[A href='http://www.forwardair.com']http://www.forwardair.com[/a]

Could check with Roadway Express. Also for larger items, there is a shipping forum on the antique tractors site. People post where they're going and how much room they have to help share costs. Here's the link. Paul[A href='http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/haulquery.pl']http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/haulquery.pl[/a]

hi last time i checked into shipping larger items such as garden tractors and such that are too heavy for ups or the us postal service - air freight was way cheaper than by ground - i did a fair amount of calling around to find prices - as woodydel said you must deliver and pick up the items from the airport - and have them on pallets - good luck - try the post office they also do large packages but onkly to a certain wait - i have shipped a plow and cultivator this way - broken down and put in boxes - good luck - also check prev. post there has been numerous talks about this subject

Well if you want to go into shock this is how to do it. Give a call to National Air Cargo and get turned down because of the new regulations put out by the FAA. If they don't know you, you can't ship. After I'm turned down I say to the agent why can Forward Air ship my stuff and he says THAT'S BECAUSE THEY ARE A TRUCKING COMPANY. I tell him he has to be kidding and he says he's been in the business for 30 years and he knows he's right. I called Forward Air and guess what? They are a TRUCKING COMPANY with the cheapest rates of anyone. Even the trucking companies use them and we don't even know it. They are near airports because who the hell knows why. It doesn't matter because the freight gets there and the prices are right. The agent at Forward Air says they know most people are fooled because of their connections to the airports and their name. Needless to say I'm in shock....Woody
