Deutz Allis 1920 Ultima PTO issues

Recommended Posts

I have a 1920 that has begun to have intermittent PTO issues. Intermittently, both the front and rear PTOs will disengage simultaneously. The fact that this happens to both PTOs at the same time leads me to believe it is something electrical that they have in common. My first guess was the seat switch or connection. So I jumped out the connector and no improvement. The seat light stays lit and the PTOs will drop out. I can't see both PTO switches getting flaky at the same time,so it seems like it must be something else. I ordered replacement PTO switches just in case, but they aren't even close to the same pin-out or mounting style, so using them to eliminate the existing switches is out. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Steve- I have a sunstar 20 and have a wiring diagram that shows a common wire coming from the ign sw run position to both PTO switches-

you might have a flakey ign sw or a loose connection at the ign sw.

what year model is your 1920?

BTW I was a member of this fine forum several years back and drifted away to other interests--just tried to register again and was told my username was already in use --surprised to find I am still on file as a member:D

Not sure on the year of manufacture, but the serial number is 1691392. I think I see the wire you are talking about. Is it a black wire spliced into a 12ga red wire coming off the rectifier terminal on the ignition switch?

That is the wire but it is actually brown--also has a green wire on the same terminal that is dead-ended that goes to spout rotator on a snow blower--we don't see many snow blowers in Louisiana ;)
