GardenTrACtorguy 29 Posted September 12, 2016 My sickle bar does not have a cable lift. Where could I find one (savage yards, etc) or make one?
dentwizz 6 Posted September 12, 2016 You can have them custom made at some farm/hardware stores if you measure beforehand.
GardenTrACtorguy 29 Posted September 12, 2016 how would I mount the lift chain to the tractor so the lift lever is freed up? "Drilling?"
dentwizz 6 Posted September 13, 2016 Are you meaning the stationary chain that holds the rear shoe upward? If so, that should get a little hook plate bolted under or near the parking brake hole. In a pinch I have used a hook and just hooked the parking brake hole by itself, though it is not ideal. The lifting cable that handles the moving cable should be the only one that attaches to the lift lever and the front of the sickle assembly as per the manual. GardenTrACtorguy 29 Posted September 13, 2016 yes I am meaning the rear chain hold. Also how would the pulley be mounted to the front for the cable.
dentwizz 6 Posted September 13, 2016 The front bracket uses the same bolt holes as the firewall and front grille assembly mounts. It has a shape to match, though you may need to substitute with longer grade 8 bolts.
Chris727 2,014 Posted September 13, 2016 The early sicklebars had a lift handle instead of the cable. Are you attempting to convert one of these to use a cable lift or do you simply have a later cable lift model which is missing the cable and bracket?
GardenTrACtorguy 29 Posted September 14, 2016 I am thinking that's he bar is just missing the lift. I'll post pictures tonight
tadams 988 Posted September 14, 2016 If you need the pulley and bracket I have an extra one I would sell. PM if interested.
Talntedmrgreen 1,978 Posted September 14, 2016 Sounds like he wants a hand lift sickle to become a cable lift type. Please reference this thread (pic is stolen from that discussion for reference here)http://simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=19099&SearchTerms=sickle,cable,conversion
GardenTrACtorguy 29 Posted September 14, 2016 Here is the picture of my bar set up. It looks like I have the bracket for the cable, I just don't have the cable assembly. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/jsteiner718/IMG_0750_zpsiu1e3k8v.jpg
GregB 940 Posted September 15, 2016 Looks to me like you have the rear chain hooked to the lift. It gets fastened to the frame in a fixed position. You are missing the pulley bracket that gets mounted on the frame where it changes shape. Rokon was selling re manufactured assemblies. I think the cable is the same as the deck lift cable, maybe? there isa part number for the cable listed in the sketch drawing above.
