Hello, Some times if you clean the contacts on the switch and plug connector that may help . A small brass brush may clean off any corrosion .

Thanks Ken in Mi

The Simplicity switch is pricey; either of these switches should work fine. The first one is listed for the Kohler CH series which has a magneto ignition but the pic only shows 4 terminals. The second switch pic shows five terminals, same as your OEM switch. That's assuming you didn't convert your Briggs to coil ignition.https://www.zoro.com/stens-starter-switch-430662/i/G3985283/?gclid=CMXB37HVjc8CFcYfhgodWJsL-w&gclsrc=aw.dshttps://www.zoro.com/stens-starter-switch-430538/i/G4341644/Make sure the replacement switch pins are in the same location as the existing switch; I would think they are but if you wire +12v to the mag coil, you'll fry it. So it's worth checking with a volt meter. For reference: See this post for wiring diagrams:http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=118831A Briggs ignition switch looks like this:

As you can see, it has 5 connections. The one with the jumper clip is the kill wire to the Briggs mag. Sometimes, the ground connection isn't wired, since the case of the switch is ground. I always run a separate ground wire from the switch terminal to the engine block as shown in the 7016 wiring diagram.

Can't help.

Since there haven't been any replies, I suggest you "map" the switch's contacts for each key position with a multi-meter and then wire the tractor accordingly.
