I just picked up this tractor with the engine in pieces in several boxes. It is a opposed twin Briggs 402707 and I know nothing about them. I cleaned all of the parts today and have a question about the oil pump gear. It drives off of the cam gear at a right angle and doesn't seen to have a lot of engagement. Is this normal or is the oil pump gear worn out. the PO said the engine "lost compression" so he tore it apart. I did find that a head gasket as leaking and all of the other parts look OK. I will be getting a manual for it. I have the owners manual and the parts manual that I printed from online. Thanks Bob
