Simplicity 7117H not starting

Recommended Posts

Well guys I have not been on in a while, blame that on my sweet running tractor,  Sadly it is in the barn and I can not get it started.  When you turn the key the solenoid engages and the motor buzzes but not enough power to turn the motor.  Checked wiring, charged battery, jumped solenoid and motor turns,  I did not think a bad solenoid would reduce the power to the starter.  At a loss for where to go from here.  Any ideas?  Tractor has the original Kohler 17.

Hello, Check the 5 prong plug that connects to the ignition switch they sometimes corrode and cause this issue .

Thanks Ken in Mi

I'm betting your starter is wore out.  It's 20-30+ years old.

Had the same thing happen to mine about 5 years ago.  Had it rebuild for around $80 & was told I should jump to the next larger gauge wire due to the length of it. Since I had the engine out, I did that as well.

No issues since.
