Bill725 1,177 Posted December 18, 2016 I purchased some Phillips 1156LED bulbs for headlights in my 2000 Sovereign and the only bulb that lights is the right. The left will not light. Both LED light bulbs are good because I put both in the right socket. When I put the original 1156 bulbs in, they both work. Does anyone know why?
PhanDad 3,616 Posted December 18, 2016 Some ideas: Some corrosion or thin wire that is adding resistance to the flow of electricity to the left socket. Check the socket for crud build up or poor contact surface. You could also check the voltage at the socket. Or, are LED bulbs polarity sensitive? Old school filament bulbs aren't. Do the LED's light with voltage applied either direction? If not, could be the way your inserting the bulbs or the wiring is reversed on the left socket. buckdan 3 Posted December 18, 2016 LED bulbs are polarity sensitive. I had the same problem when I installed my 1156 LED bulbs. Make sure the positive is wired the same for both bulbs, guaranteed to work .
Bill725 1,177 Posted December 18, 2016 I switched the wires around on the left socket and they both now work. Thanks Bill for the quick advise.
