Viva-la-B-110 7 Posted December 18, 2016 I've been in the process of replacing the bearings on my 42" deck. Got them all replaced but now the outer spindles won't turn at all. The original bushings dissapeared (I have a 5 and 2 year old). I've tried several combinations of replacement bushings but no luck. I tighten the pulley down and they freeze. Any tips? Thanks! PhanDad 3,618 Posted December 18, 2016 I'm guessing you're working on "old" style arbors, such as these: The total length of all the components on the arbor shaft must be slightly more than the length from the top of the tube to the bottom of the lower bearing. If not, the abhor shaft will bind and not turn. If the center of the bearings you used are slightly less thick than the OEM bearings, or not enough washers, etc are used, the stack will be too short. And you did remember to put the spacer between the bearings.
