707 starter generator question

I'm trying to replace a S/G on the 707. It was missing when I bought the tractor.I'm unsure of how to hook it up. Searched on the site...can't figure it out.The regulator has 4 poles, 3 on front, 1 on bottom. Looks as though the S/G was removed many moons ago, the starter disconnected and "leftover" wires taped up. The regulator has four wires...all are still connected to the regulator. Two are loose and "hanging". The two loose wires are the ones i'm unsure where to put on the starter. Looking at the regulator from the front, left to right...left goes to lights, middle goes to ampmeter, right is loose and the wire coming from the pole on the bottom is loose. Anyone know where to put the "loose" wires? I assume the heavy cable from the start button goes on the "A" side of the starter. Thanking yall in advance.....Rick :)

Well its hard to see from my diagram what is left or right but,it does show the wire on the bottom going to the A post on the sarter/generator and I am assuming that the other one that you have loose goes to the F post on the starter/generator as in the diagram it shows a wire going to the F post from the reg.front side. If you can see the letters on the regulator the one that has L on it goes to the lights. The one that has Batt. on it goes to the Ammeter The one that has F goes to the F post on the starter/generator. Also I think somewhere in the club there is a diagram. If you need more info I can scan it in the morning and email it to you. mowerman1193

Mowerman and Brent...thanks for your responses. I had found the diagram for the Kohler last nite, but was unsure still how it would work on a Briggs. Hooked it up per Mowermans suggestion...TA-DA! It works! I think it's even charging! Thank Yall again!!.....Rick :)

The diagram below should be similar to yours except you don't have (probably, unless it was changed over) battery ignition with a coil. See the following links for more info...: http://ourworld.cs.com/Bcbaumer/gen1.jpg http://ourworld.cs.com/Bcbaumer/gen2.jpg http://ourworld.cs.com/Bcbaumer/gen3.jpg http://ourworld.cs.com/Bcbaumer/gen4.jpg http://ourworld.cs.com/Bcbaumer/gen5.jpg Hope this helps.
