JonetteP 0 Posted March 9, 2002 OK, do not get upset. I did not find the reserve of rear generators. The question I have is that has anyone modified a alternator/generator to fit on the bask of a simp/allis? Next, I think an alternator pulls the energy from the feild windings and the generator from the armater windings. Is this correct in my assumption?
Roy 0 Posted March 10, 2002 Your are correct. An altenator has a rotating field and stationary "armature". Generators have rotating armatures and stationary field coils. Alternators last longer because the rotating field current through the brushes is much less that that of a generator which must transmit all the output current through the brushes.
