Dadsy98 0 Posted March 10, 2002 Thanks Putter, I was thinking the same way. It's a bit of a chore to remove the throttle cable assembly. I have a few DOA mowers around so donors won't be a problem...
MPH 12 Posted March 10, 2002 You may be able to just replace the wire inside your present cable from a donor and save the rouble of routing it all through again.MPH

Dadsy98 0 Posted March 10, 2002 My throttle cable broke a few weeks ago, about the same time my points went south and the coil died. I like to replace the front wheel bearings and redo the deck spindles while I'm at it. The moles tore up my new blades last year, so I'm in the process of building a sprayer cart for castor oil spraying... Oh, I was going to ask if anybody had ideas on the throttle cable assembly. I just need the cable and shield. Mine broke at the lever end of it. Any thoughts ? Steve
Putter 0 Posted March 10, 2002 Any old lawnmower throttle cable with the coiled shielding will work. Remove your lever assembly and you'll see it is just crimped to the shielding. Open up the gap and remove the old sheilding. Buy a generic cable assembly and remove the attached lever the same way. The kinked end of the new cable assembly should fit into your old lever the same way the old one was. Match up the shieldings and mark the length at the carb end. Withdraw the cable to the point that you can hacksaw the shielding to length. clean up the cut a bit and you should be able to push the cable back through the shielding and route back the way you had it. You should now have lots of cable to make a kink at the right point to have full travel. Good luck.
