Snowthrower belt

The belt on the snowthrower attachment on my 3212H died so I need  a replacement.  The first place I called said they looked up what I had and wanted to sell me a 36" belt.  Right.  The pieces of what I had measured more than that, so I went to another place that is closer.  Beforehand, I researched to my model number (#487)  and found that I need Simplicity part #106769.  That part number is now  #1721533SM .   When I plug that in to parts searches, it comes up with the description:  V-belt HA056.10   .  That would seem to me to be a belt that was 56.10 inches long.  The second place spent a week finding "what you need" and sold me a kevlar Husqvarna belt that I have measured to be 55 3/16" (part #12400  A-539110411 ) .   Snow is falling today at about 3" per hour here.  Should I bother trying to install a belt that seems to be too small or do people here think it should work?   It is March.  The snow will end up melting at some point.

If you have a NAPA store,  Get an A54 belt and don't settle for anything less. That is as close to a Simplicity belt you can get. On the sleeve it shows 1/2 X 56"L belt and don't worry about the 1/10 of an inch.. You can t r y shorter belt and it could get you thru your situation.

Can't get to NAPA store today, though price looks good.  Roads not yet plowed and 6" on them.  Store not likely to open, at this rate.  Question is whether the shorter belt will disengage when I need it to. Don't think kevlar is going to stretch much.  Don't want to waste my time installing and not being able to return a used belt if it's not likely to work.  "t   r  y "  -ing makes it sound like it is not likely to work.

Thank you for the encouragement.  It works, though won't fully disengage.  Got about 1/4 of drive done before rain compacted snow too much and it clogged.  And clogged. And clogged.  Had to shut down each time because the belt wouldn't disengage fully, so will have to go to blade or let it melt.  More snow predicted for wkend...

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
