When would you buy?

What about a choice like " Prefer OEM, but depends (price, availability, condition, anticipated use). I bought an Agri-Fab plastic spreader last year to apply salt to the driveway. Didn't expect anything to last long under those conditions. Worked well (alright, worked ok) too.

Over 50% of those responding to the current poll picked a “front end loader” as their “most wanted” attachment. Although not OEM, and relatively expensive, new front end loaders are available that will fit most garden tractors. If I found an OEM attachment I didn’t need, I may buy it (for the right price) as a collector item. On the other hand, if I had use for an attachment, I’d buy it, OEM or not. The price I’d be willing to pay would be determined by whether I “wanted” the attachment or “needed” it, and of course condition. Regarding ANY attachment you want, what factors would determine your decision to buy? 1) Must be genuine OEM, in excellent condition. 2) Must be genuine OEM, and useable as is. 3) Must be genuine OEM, and repairable. 4) Make unimportant, in excellent condition. 5) Make unimportant, but useable as is. 6) Make unimportant, but repairable. 7) Strictly price.

If I'm dreaming, #1. If I want it, #3. If I NEED it, anything goes but the need must be imperative. Most things that fall under that category are outside garden tractors for me. If I really really need a backhoe/loader that bad I'll go rent a big one for the weekend and be done with it.
