RonT 1 Posted March 22, 2002 Try your local NAPA they do have blades in their powerequip book. Don't know any prices but it's worth a try.
BillC 0 Posted March 22, 2002 Ultimate Hick, Try making your own blades out of steel bar stock. Just drill mounting hole(s), bend up the back edge on both sides and sharpen the edge. Can't get any cheaper!
Dutch 4 Posted March 22, 2002 It doesn't matter whether you buy blades from Home Depot or make them yourself. There's still the expense of maintaining them. Just borrow blades from a neighbor when you need to use them.
gretsch 0 Posted March 23, 2002 You should be able to get Simplicity blades from a dealer roughly $45. Home Depot or Sears usually will only have current deck sizes available (whatever AYP or MTD is currently using) and they are definately lower quality. Simplicity blades will ding, the store blades will bend and warp. Sometimes they are not even balanced straight out of the package.
MPH 12 Posted March 23, 2002 geez guys, had a hard week??Seems I've read something on here last mowin season about quility of blades but CRS disease got them brain cells so I can't really help you either. I know k-mart blades don't hold an edge well from using them on my push behind mower before I got lazy and started riding around when mowing, guess I'll have to go to the gymn now to stay in shape..MPH
