3 Post Voltage Reg w/bottom terminal/Mod 725

Maybe the information I need is here somewhere, but ....

I have a Model 725 that I'm converting to electric start.  I have the starter/generator mounted, pully on flywheel and belt hooked up, but I'm stumped on the voltage regulator.

I have a new one (voltage reg) with three tabs on one side and a post on the bottom.  The pages from the parts manuals show the same regulator, but the images are confusing.  It looks like some wires are missing from the diagram.  I know the battery post goes to the battery.  The Generator post goes to the A or G terminal on the SG, and the Field post goes tot he F on the SG.  The parts illustration shows a wire with a note saying to connect to the bottom post.  I'm guessing the other end goes to the A or G terminal, but since I can't tell for sure which wire goes where from the illustration, does anyone know for sure if my assumption is correct?  If not, how does the bottom post wire up?

Thanks in advance for any help -

I think maybe I have it figured out.  The regulator has L, B, & F on the tabs.  The only connection remaining is for the Armature post on the starter/generator.  I'm going with that.  Thanks  - Dick

The regulator should have (4) terminals, L-lights, B-battery, F-field & G-generature.

A brand new/unused regulator must be polarized. Instructions state: After new regulator has been installed and "grounded battery cable" connected to battery, BEFORE STARTING ENGINE POLARIZE GENERATOR TO MATCH BATTERY. MOMENTARY TOUCH ONE END OA A PIECE OF WIRE TO REGULATOR TERMINAL MARKED "ARM" OR "GEN" AND THE OTHER END TO TERMINAL MARKED "BATT" THEN REMOVE. A SPARK WILL OCCUR WHEN WIRE IS REMOVED. THIS IS NATURAL. DO NOT TOUCH "FLD" TERMINAL! REGULATOR IS RUINED INSTANTLY IF IT HAPPENS.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
